Through its subsidiary Van Dusseldorp & Partners, Van Dusseldorp Holding has organised the following events:

Hot-Spot Event, 26 June 2003, Amsterdam
The Hotspot event aimed to bring together all relevant parties related to this young industry. Much is happening in the area of Wi-Fi at the moment both in The Netherlands and internationally and on the 26th June we presented an overview of the Dutch industry and the strategies of the main players in this market. We also discussed the recent technical and standardisation developments, as well as giving practical examples and sharing case studies about using the networks in practice. Another important topic which was addressed was the implications of the Wi-Fi network on traditional service providers - and finally we hope to end the day with a debate about the necessary conditions for The Netherlands to become a forerunner in this market.

Fifth Annual TV Meets the Web Seminar, 15-16 May 2003, Amsterdam
This year marked the fifth anniversary of the annual TV Meets the Web Seminar, one of the leading, pan-European events to examine the latest Internet, broadcasting and media convergence developments and industry trends. The event provided delegates with the opportunity to hear from representatives of global media companies and major broadcasters about the lessons they've learned during the economic downturn as well as their future strategies for establishing themselves as robust and viable digital media businesses. The TV Meets the Web event specifically focused on broadcasters' use of the Internet, interactive TV, the use of video online, the integration of PC functionalities within the TV set, and additional developments related to broadband infrastructures and content.

South Korean/Czech IT Business Development Day, 25 April 2003, Prague
Van Dusseldorp organised an invitation-only, business development day on April 25th in Prague. The event was sponsored by the South Korean government with the purpose of encouraging business ties between South Korean telecommunications, wireless, mobile, broadband and software companies and those in Central and Eastern Europe. Local companies were able to hold a series of one-on-one meetings with South Korea’s leading technology companies to discuss specific business opportunities and alliances.

New TV! Interactive Television – “Revenues and Future Views”, 2 April 2003, Ireland
The marriage of SMS and TV programming is one of the latest success stories of media convergence. From being viewed as a successful "value-adding" communication channel to existing media properties, SMS is now creating value of its own and becoming the focus around which original programming concepts are designed and developed. In several key markets it is has clearly surpassed iTV as the preferred mode of interaction between user and television programming. Much of the excitement surrounding the application of SMS functionality to television contexts has centred on the direct revenue possibilities created for content owners, broadcasters, distributors, solutions providers and mobile operators. Whilst healthy direct revenues are being generated for multiple parties, SMS based concepts also deliver significant 'value added' propositions above and beyond this including:

  • enhancing viewer loyalty and increasing audience levels
  • developing new advertising and promotional channels
  • direct communication and customer profiling techniques
The presentations given by several industry leaders gave a thoughtful insight into this burgeoning marketplace and explored how SMS TV services were expected to evolve in the future. This event was run in cooperation with Digital Media Intelligence (DMI). For further information about this event, please click here.

2nd SMS Meets TV Seminar, 6 February 2003, Portugal
Due to the success of the 'SMS Meets TV' seminar in Amsterdam last year, Van Dusseldorp together with DISCOP held a second 'SMS Meets TV' seminar in beautiful Lisbon, Portugal on Thursday, February 6, 2003. This second seminar was hosted as part of DISCOP Formats Europe 2003 taking place February 5-7, 2003.

The seminar built on the proceedings of the recent Amsterdam based SMS Meets TV event and provided a more in-depth examination of this exciting marketplace. Exactly how do broadcasters, mobile operators and SMS application developers work together to develop new content formats and generate revenue from SMS users? How does the SMS entertainment market evolve to incorporate MMS, downloadable games and the potential offered via mobile-based marketing? What progress has been made in addressing key industry issues including: inter-operability of services across Europe, premium rate billing and revenue sharing arrangement? Combining successful case studies from Southern European players together with high level input from leading international broadcasters, production houses, concept creators and mobile operators, the event was a huge success!

Content Billing Europe Seminar, 1 October 2002, Amsterdam
Van Dusseldorp's Content Billing Europe Seminar examined premium content billing initiatives in Europe and educated delegates about the business considerations of charging consumers and corporate clients for content. In addition to highlighting successful content billing initiatives, the Seminar provided delegates with the opportunity to hear from companies including i-Mode, Tiscali, FT.com, FirstGate Internet which is one of Europe's leading micropayment solutions providers, KPN SwitchPoint, the OneHello online dating service, and MobiView which is a mobile platform designed to enable media and entertainment companies to distribute content and charge consumers via the major mobile operators active in the Dutch market.

SMS Meets TV Seminar, 16 September 2002, Amsterdam
Media convergence is not just about publishing the same content on different platforms but also about connectivity of those platforms to promote interactivity. The SMS phenomenon in Europe has spread to TV with increasing numbers of operators offering bundled services to broadcasters so that their users can vote, communicate, interact and influence the content/direction of programming. This one-day event brought together all the major players in this exploding market, to reflect on the experiences so far, analyse the case-studies and potential of this new medium and assess the viability of business models and revenue streams for the future.

First National Email Marketing Seminar, 11 September 2002, Amsterdam
In partnership with Veritate Technologies, Van Dusseldorp and BBP are proud to have organised the first National Email Marketing Conference for the Dutch market. Email usage has increased enormously the last couple of years and this medium excels in maintaining existing relationships, and also for establishing new business relationships. This one-day seminar answered the need for in-depth knowledge and practical information on email marketing, email publishing and customer relationship marketing.

European Internet Seminars Summerschool, 23-25 August 2002, Amsterdam
The Internet has become an important communication and business medium for millions of users in Europe and key in the marketing of your organisation to the outside world. With the growing experience of the user the development of, and demand for, sophisticated services grow as well. Keeping up with the new developments and managing your on-line presence can be a challenge, let alone navigating your way through the on-line maze of fundraising opportunities. How can non-profit organisations effectively use the Internet? The Third Annual European Internet Seminars presented attendees with a clear view of the opportunities the Internet offers your organisation, whether you are a large multi-national, a one man show or something in between. Organised by the European Internet Seminars Association, this seminar was produced in co-operation with the Amsterdam-Maastricht Summer University and Van Dusseldorp.

This three-day event, held on 23-25 August 2002, in the Amsterdam Summer University, The Netherlands, focused on recent Internet and broadband developments in Europe. Participants enjoyed sessions on fundraising via the Internet and developing alternative media channels; workshops on website development and communications strategies, non-nerdy technology updates as well as a chance to air views & experiences and "interact" with the course sessions. The event was aimed primarily at professionals from the not-for-profit industry and anyone interested in a future career or association with the non-profit sector.

The underlying theme of the seminar, which had a strong European focus, was that of "Building Lucrative Sports Communities". European Content Syndication Seminar, 4 April 2001, Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Syndication is hot. Selling content to multiple distribution channels has long been a viable model for newspaper, radio and television content. Recently though, syndication has become an attractive distribution model on the Internet, as it becomes apparent that ad revenues alone won't sustain most content companies. Van Dusseldorp's one day seminar on the European content syndication market, held in Amsterdam on 4 April, 2001, gathered over 200 internet and media professionals, all active in the syndication business, be it as originators, distributors or syndicators of digital content.
